MEEP: HR-6
U.S. AIR FORCE MANAGEMENT EVALUATION EQUIPMENT PROGRAMFINAL REPORT - Mid-Rise Lift 4PROJECT NO. TO2-03 ***IMPORTANT REMINDER***
THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FURNISHED AS CLOSING ACTION FOR THIS PROJECT. Project Title: Mid-Rise Lift Project Dates: March through September 2002 Project Monitor: AFMC Project Evaluated: Portable Mid-Rise Lift, Model HR-6. Project results: The Portable Mid-Rise Lift was used to lift a variety of vehicle types, i. e., small compact sedans; and up to three quarter ton utility body pick-up trucks. The lift performed as the advertised. The lift performed well above expectations in the main shop and at an outlying facility that had limited support and resources. All that is required to operate the lift is 110v electricity and a smooth and flat surface. The lift was user friendly and because it is mobile it could be moved around rather easily. Advantages: a. Lift is mobile, does not require permanent insta!lation and can be moved from shop to shop or bay-to-bay. b. Lift is ideal for Uni-Body vehicles. c. The 48-inch maximum lift allows technicians to change tires, perform brake work, or prepare a vehicle for painting without bending/stooping or sitting. Tangible savings: a. Using jacks and safety stands it took technicians fifteen (15) minutes to raise a vehicle for repairs compared to five (5) minutes using the portable mid-rise lift. b. If the lift was used an average of three (3) times per week there would be a labor hour saving of thirty, (30) minutes. (I) Thirty (30) minutes of labor hours saved times fifty-two (52) weeks equal twenty-six (26) labor hours saved per year. (2) Multiply twenty-six (26) hours times a shop labor rate of $25.00 per hour equal an annual saving of $650.00. Intangible benefits: More production with less effort and safer to use. Final MEEP Action: Based on findings; and recommendation of test site personnel, the Model HR-6, Mid-Rise Lift, is recommended for Air Force use and adoption; with local purchase as the method of purchase.Final MEEP Action: Project closed.
